The Winds of Viridia are headed in our direction next year
One of the surprise announcements from Nintendo’s Indie World Direct earlier today was the reveal of Winds of Viridia from developers Shark Jump and Matt Trobbiani.
The game wears its heart and influences on its sleeve, citing games like Breath of the Wild and Dark Souls as inspirations. Good choices, because we love those games. Heck, even the logo has that Breath of the Wild feel, right down to the little graphical break in the capital V.
It’s an action adventure in the purest form, with a sprawling world, tons of enemies, swords, and even rolling around for speed. The bosses will be challenging and require that Souls-like strategy, and with a hub town that will let us improve our stats and abilities? Count us in.
Winds of Viridia is looking and sounding pretty good, with an orhcestral score by Kevin Penkin and Christopher Larkin. It’s even dropped a surprise demo, too. The game releases on Steam and Switch 2 in 2027.
